Mini Pizza's In Food Tech

Today was a Practice run for our Mama Mia Pizzas. We used a pita bread for the base, an ordinary tomato pizza sauce, and toppings of our choice, I used mushrooms, fresh basil leaves, red onion, and a mixture of colourful peppers of red, orange and yellow for a healthy colourful look to it! I loved the way it turned out the balance looked really good. I'm very excited for the mama mia pizza challenge because the first one turned out so good!

Speech

My class has been writing speeches about Healthy Bodies and strong minds, for my topic I did sport and how you can stay healthy by playing sport, here it is!
Kia ora, Ko Rongokako te maunga Ko Tuki Tuki te awaKo Meaghan taku ingoa Tena koutou, tena koutou tena koutou,  katoa, I’m going to talk  about sport and how it can affect a healthy lifestyle and how it can improve a lifestyle as well, by answering questions you might have, First question… How can not participating in sport can affect your life?

Well sport is a great way to keep fit and healthy so not participating in sport can be a real hazard to your health,  but when you do It benefits heaps while you're also giving something new a go!

Second question…   How can sport benefit your life?

By playing sport you're trying something new obtaining skill or even  finding a new passion to pursue

Third question… Why is sport one of the best ways to stay fit?

Sport is one of the best ways to keep fit because it gives you something to aim for, in sport you're always doing something you're never standing still, you’re running around with an aim ether to win or try out a new skill!

Fourth question… Why is sport so important?

Sport is important on two levels :fitness :skill Obviously you get more fit the more you practice and play that sport but another thing, the skills you can learn can be very important as well like learning overall a plan over the game like a good eye, but also opens a whole new career path going to maybe the olympics someday if you really feel passionate about that sport!

Fifth question and final question… How do you keep interested in sport?

Well a lot of kiwi kids around NZ get tired or uninterested in sport and since their isn’t really sustainable other ways to keep fit other than running around, keeping fit and healthy becomes more of a challenge than a choice.

End summary…

All together Keeping fit and healthy is an important part of your well being. Sport and fitness activities can help you regardless of your age or ability. As well youth sports and  physical activities can have  many benefits for children and as exercise is good for the mind, body and spirit. Team sports help teach kids accountability, dedication, leadership and other skills That are important for a healthy lifestyle,  And I encourage everyone greatly to take on a challenge of a new sport! Thankyou for listening I hope this speech has encouraged you to take on a new sport!

Why do I have blonde hair?

In science class, we learn new things every lesson but this lesson we looked into things we were interested in I wanted to know why do I have blonde hair? is it just my genes? I have researched some information that I have found very interesting...

Medical conditions. Albinism is a genetic abnormality in which little or no pigment is found in human hair, eyes, and skin. The hair is often white or pale blond. However, it can be red, darker blond, light brown, or rarely, even dark brown.

also this website...

For all those brunettes wishing they were naturally blond, a small genetic change could have made all the difference. Scientists have found that replacing one of DNA’s four letters at a key spot in the genome shifts a particular gene’s activity and leads to fairer hair. Not only does the work provide a molecular basis for flaxen locks, but it also demonstrates how changes in segments of DNA that control genes, not just changes in genes themselves.

check out the website for more info here
http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2014/06/genetics-blond-hair

Also a little extra info
your hair is made out of keratin which is also what your fingernails are made of too it's also the stuff behind he silky sheen, wool bear claws and even horse hoofs, but keratin is not very colourful on its own, but you need one thing, pigment there are these cells in your skin called melanocytes, and these melanocytes create natural pigment... but it comes in two     parts, eumelanin and pheomelanin

eumelanin gives hair darker hair and pheomelanin gives hair a lighter colour to its hair...
amazing right?

Chapter 20

I and Taylor have written 20 chapters since the last time we wrote a blog. We're trying to make it into an actual book and trying to publish it for the school. We have been working really hard trying to get enough chapters to get it done we are super excited to get it published we want to share our blurb!

Once upon the Universe, two girls by the name of Luna and Fea lived in two separate worlds that brought them together. When all hope is lost on Earth, man fought man, while fear and greed crossed the globe, the gods sent Luna and Fea to Earth to solve these problems. Without the knowledge of their former selves, they are off on a journey to fix the Earth and save it from itself, only to find themselves and someone else... A Lost Love.

INVENTIONS #2

The Waker-Upper Sheet
I took a basic problem for a lot of kiwi kids. Waking up in the mornings for school. So I thought of the opposite things, which would be clearly sleeping. and what are two things that help you sleep easily? Comfort and just being tired. So I took out comfort and thought about warmth and being cosy, it leads me to think about when you start to feel cold it stops feeling comfortable right.

I designed a sheet you put on your bed like a normal sheet, but it has a wire the plugs into your phone or device, that when your alarm goes off in the morning your have 5 seconds to get up or a blue gel kind of liquid goes off inside of the sheet it fills itself up like an air mattress then starts getting colder and colder till it detects you’ve left your bed.

The gel and mattress would be made of normal materials with a short fuzz .but the inside would be water/gel proof for no stains or leaks

Who: Who would use my invention? other than getting up for school it has many uses getting up for a run, getting up for work, or having a quick nap

How: does the gel work how does it go cold? the gel is made of the almost the same thing as burn relief it turns icy cold but not too cold to get sick !!

WEEK 11 home learning

Home learning

by Meaghan Broad

Image result for earthIn school, once we get home we have a homework task. Once you do and an optional task as well last week was an ANZAC day theme we had to "draw a picture of something that captures the image of ANZAC day" so I took a couple of pictures of the web and added parts of each one to complement each other. after I had done the art task I started to think about ideas how I could help the earth keeping it healthy, tidy and clean. I thought of a couple ways but it didn't seem to logically work so I kept thinking of other ways to save the earth and I ended up planning and drawing out my idea I think it could really benefit the earth and keep it healthier for longer right now my idea is just a concept but I'm fixing it up more and  more by the minute.
